Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kix Rus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Becks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kix Rus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, BJ Becks!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Becks throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rus misses with a two punch combination.
A slapping body kick lands there for Rus.

Becks looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Becks wants to pass the guard but Rus is keeping the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Rus looking to hit a scissor sweep but Becks is one step ahead there.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Becks showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Becks is working for a submission of some sort.
Rus is looking to control Becks's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rus avoid being mounted?
Rus has a hand on Becks's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Becks takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Becks prevents Rus from getting the reversal.

Becks is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Rus has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Rus is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Becks can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rus is looking to escape.
Becks pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rus is squirming around, avoiding Becks's attempts to control the action.
Rus is wriggling around trying to escape.

Becks looking to secure an arm triangle but Rus defends it well.
Rus is just holding on here. Becks manages to take his back.
Rus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Becks on the ground.
Becks doesn't have the hooks in and Rus manages to turn into his guard.
Rus trying to control the position from guard on top but Becks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

BJ Becks dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rus throws a push kick but Becks slaps the foot to one side.
Some bone on bone action there as Becks checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Rus lands a nice looking body kick.
Rus will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Rus throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Becks's head.
Becks blocks a low kick nicely.
Kix Rus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters circling a little - Rus finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Rus throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Rus gets caught flat footed, as Becks shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rus wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Becks manages to pass to side control.
Rus is looking for a sweep. Becks is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Becks is trying to control. Rus wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rus trying to control but Becks postures up.

Becks seems to be working for a kimura but Rus defends the submission attempt.

Rus is looking to improve his position.
Rus is trying to control but Becks manages to pass to mount!
Becks scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Rus?
Rus is looking to get to half guard.
Becks takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rus tries to control the position but Becks now has his back.

Becks is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Rus is defending well though. Becks let's go of the attempt for now.
Rus wants to control his opponent's hands but Becks gets his hands free.

Rus breaks Becks's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Rus controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Rus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Becks swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

BJ Becks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Becks takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Becks shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rus defends it nicely.
An inside leg kick from Rus misses.
Rus tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Becks closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Becks lands in his opponent's guard.
Becks looking to pass the guard.

Becks got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Becks has managed to get both his arms back between Rus's legs - danger averted.
Rus looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rus is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rus tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rus is trying to control the position but Becks postures up.
Becks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rus swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rus with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Becks takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Becks checks a leg kick.
Rus throws a nice outside leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Rus. No joy for Becks on that attempt.
Becks keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Rus tries to close the distance and clinch but Becks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A nice inside leg kick there by Rus. That's going to slow Becks down.
Rus throws and low kick but Becks moves out of range easily.
Becks shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rus pinned against the cage. Rus gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kix Rus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Becks.
Becks takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Rus lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Becks has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Becks and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Becks shoots in for a takedown but Rus shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rus wants to clinch up but Becks keeps it at a distance.
Kix Rus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Some bone on bone action there as Becks checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Becks looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Rus misses with a low kick.
Rus turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Rus throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Rus pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Rus looks to land a combination but Becks avoids it well.
Becks fails with a takedown attempt.

Rus has managed to clinch.
Rus trying to land knees to the body.
Rus lands a good knee to the midsection. Becks won't want to take too many of those.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kix Rus clearly takes that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Becks shoots for a double leg takedown but Rus sprawls well. He's pushed Becks's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rus misses with a low kick.
Rus tries to close the distance and clinch but Becks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rus lands a nice leg kick that just misses Becks's sensitive parts.
Both fighters circling a little - Rus finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Rus walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Becks checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Rus tries to clinch but Becks moves out of range.

Becks shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rus but Rus pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Rus buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Becks is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.
Becks checks a leg kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Rus tries a knee to the head but Becks blocks it.
Becks wants a takedown but no success here.

Becks on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Becks keeping moving, preventing Rus from controlling successfully.
Becks tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Becks has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rus slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Becks looking for a sweep. Not yet Becks, not yet.
Rus trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Becks has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Rus throws a low kick but it's checked well by Becks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Becks keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Rus lands a nice leg kick that just misses Becks's sensitive parts.

Kix Rus had his way with BJ Becks in that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Rus misses with a wild combination.
Rus dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Becks. That did some damage!
Rus throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Becks throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rus's waist but Rus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Becks off to one side.

Becks shoots in and bounces Rus off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Becks postures up.
BJ Becks has got the better of the ground game so far.
Becks slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Rus tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Becks is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?

Becks thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rus struggling a bit here.

Rus tries to buck Becks off but Becks is having none of it.
Rus gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Becks is thwarting Rus's attempts to control the position.
Becks is looking to advance position but Rus won't allow it.
Rus wants to improve his position but Becks is controlling well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rus fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rus throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Becks.
Becks throws a body punch but Rus moves out of range.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Becks shoots in but no luck this time.
Rus fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Becks is out of range.
Rus tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Rus motions for Becks to come forward. Rus throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Becks shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rus defends it nicely.
Kix Rus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Becks.
Good leg kick by Rus there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Becks is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rus.
Becks shoots in but no luck this time.

Rus throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Rus bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Becks will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
