PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brick Hardhat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and tom the outlaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). the outlaw has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hardhat looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for the outlaw!
the outlaw looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Hardhat looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Hardhat controlling the pace for now.
Hardhat looking to control but the outlaw is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Hardhat sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Hardhat's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Brick Hardhat just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Hardhat scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hardhat decides to stand back up. Hardhat steps back and let's the outlaw get back to his feet.
Hardhat tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but the outlaw paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hardhat shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with the outlaw but the outlaw pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Hardhat jumps guard and drags the outlaw to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
the outlaw lands a two punch combo.

Hardhat closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hardhat wants to control but the outlaw is keeping him busy.

the outlaw is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hardhat pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hardhat working for a triangle but the outlaw defends it easily.
Hardhat really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
the outlaw is fighting to break Hardhat's control of his arms but Hardhat is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Hardhat manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. the outlaw manages to get himself to full guard.
Hardhat tries to free his leg and advance position but the outlaw is retaining full guard.

Hardhat drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hardhat jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hardhat stands and steps away. the outlaw gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A good leg kick by the outlaw.
the outlaw moves out of range of the body kick from Hardhat.
the outlaw leaves Hardhat with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
the outlaw tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hardhat paws at him with a jab and circles away.
the outlaw looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hardhat is fending him off so far but the outlaw persists. Nope, Hardhat circles away and we're back to standing.
Hardhat shoots for a double leg takedown but the outlaw sprawls well. He's pushed Hardhat's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Brick Hardhat is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
the outlaw fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Brick Hardhat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of tom the outlaw.
the outlaw lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

and the outlaw counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hardhat is not content to let the outlaw control the position.
the outlaw moves into full mount! Hardhat won't be happy about that!
the outlaw postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hardhat looks a forlorn figure.

Hardhat bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Hardhat looking to sit in guard and control but the outlaw gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

the outlaw wants to control from the top but Hardhat keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but tom the outlaw will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Hardhat fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but the outlaw avoids it really well and circles away.

and the outlaw counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hardhat won't be happy with that.

the outlaw wants to control from the top but Hardhat keeps moving.
Hardhat wants to hit a switch here but the outlaw passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hardhat there!
Hardhat is looking to improve his position but the outlaw isn't that keen on the idea.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
the outlaw lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
the outlaw trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Hardhat regains half guard.
Hardhat tries to roll over but the outlaw keeps him under control.
the outlaw is figuring out what he wants to do next.

the outlaw is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Hardhat's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
the outlaw looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Hardhat is looking to get to half guard.
Hardhat has given up his back here.
Hardhat is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

the outlaw looking for the RNC.
Hardhat turns into the outlaw and is now in his guard.
the outlaw is trying to keep Hardhat in close.
the outlaw is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Hardhat trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
