Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCown fails with an attempt to clinch.

McCown tries to keep at a distance but Carson has taken the fight into the clinch.

Carson decides to pull guard.
McCown looking to pass the guard.
Carson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Carson looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McCown manages to get himself to full guard.

Carson gets to his feet. McCown looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
McCown fails with an attempt to clinch.

Carson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Carson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from McCown.
McCown wants to get back to striking at distance but Carson won't allow it.

Carson breaks the clinch.

Carson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

McCown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McCown is looking to reverse the position.
McCown tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Carson presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Carson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
McCown is working to get back to half guard.

Carson stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

McCown throws a quick inside leg kick.
Carson throws a head kick that misses.

Carson feints and as McCown raises his hands in defense, Carson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carson passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carson is breathing heavily.
Carson tries to pass the half guard into mount. McCown knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Carson is looking to advance position but McCown won't allow it.

Carson decides to stand and escape the position.

and Carson counters with a shoot takedown. McCown fights it but they end up in guard.
McCown controls Carson momentarily but Carson frees himself.
McCown looking for a sweep. Not yet McCown, not yet.
McCown is trying to control the position from the bottom.
McCown keeping moving, preventing Carson from controlling successfully.

Carson stands and steps away. McCown gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
McCown is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Carson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McCown tries to close the distance and clinch up but Carson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McCown throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Carson's head.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McCown.
Shane Carson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane McCown.
No luck for McCown with that takedown attempt.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

McCown thows a body shot but no joy.
McCown shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Carson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Carson.

Carson drops back looking for a leg! McCown is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McCown manages to kick Carson off! Carson jumps back into McCown's guard.
Carson stands up over McCown, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McCown wants to sweep here but Carson controlling him for the moment.

Carson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McCown's guard.
McCown is looking for a sweep. Carson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
