The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spartalainen slips under a jab from Kopstoot.

Spartalainen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Spartalainen is trying to get an arm triangle but Kopstoot is defending well.
Spartalainen works to advance to full mount. Kopstoot defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Spartalainen avoids the attempt from Kopstoot to control.

Spartalainen is going olschool here, as he tries to force Kopstoot to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kopstoot shrugs it off.

Spartalainen goes for an armbar but Kopstoot turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kopstoot.
