PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between tyler T (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Kiely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, tyler T!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ned Kiely!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiely circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kiely fails with a takedown attempt.
Kiely dives in and grabs T's left leg, looking for a takedown. T pushes down on Kiely's head and hops out.
Kiely lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Kiely feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kiely is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! T is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! T has escaped and now he's on top!

T wants to control from the top but Kiely keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kiely is on top in guard.

Kiely wants to pass the guard but T is keeping the position.
Kiely throws a strike but T rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
T is looking to stand up but Kiely won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kiely manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. T manages to get himself to full guard.
Kiely looks gassed!
Kiely slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kiely is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
T working a defensive guard here.
T is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kiely trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Kiely avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
T tries to land a sweep but no joy.
T is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kiely fails with a takedown attempt.
tyler T has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ned Kiely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kiely takes the fight into the clinch.
T is pressed up against the cage. Kiely has hold of a leg and is looking to drag T down to the mat. T avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
T tries to clinch up but Kiely circles away and keeps his distance.
Kiely shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as T sprawls well. T wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kiely gets slowly back to his feet.
Crunch! T slams his shin into Kiely's torso.
T checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
T is looking to clinch.
T throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kiely's waist but Kiely gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing T off to one side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kiely scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Kiely seems to be looking for submissions.
T keeping control of the position.

Kiely is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Kiely prevents T from improving his position.
Kiely works his way into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Kiely dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kiely is defended easily by T.
T fails with the takedown

and Kiely counters by clinching up.
T lands with a left to the head.
T tries to land a knee to the head but Kiely blocks with his arms.

Kiely breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and T counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
T shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kiely as he avoids it easily.
tyler T is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
T looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kiely is fending him off so far but T persists. Nope, Kiely circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for tyler T. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kiely dives in and grabs T's left leg, looking for a takedown. T pushes down on Kiely's head and hops out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
T shoots and misses

and Kiely counters with a shoot takedown. T fights it but they end up in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kiely stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. T swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kiely trying to control but T is working from the bottom.
Kiely stands and throws T's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Kiely is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, T has escaped the position, nice work there.

You can see the frustration on T's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
T is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Kiely trying to control the action but T is working from the bottom.
Kiely is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
T wants to control but Kiely postures up.
Kiely wants to lay and pray for a moment but T keeps working.
Kiely working the head with strikes.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kiely will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
T fails with the takedown.
Kiely shoots in for a takedown but T shows good takedown defense.
Kiely throws a series of punches but T moves out of range.
Ned Kiely seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kiely shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in T's guard.
T keeping full guard, as Kiely tries to pass.

Kiely is fighting to break T's control of his arms but T is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kiely advances to half guard.
T is trying to control but can't.
Kiely controlling the pace.
T tries to kick Kiely off but Kiely keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
T tries to roll over but Kiely keeps him under control.

T is defending against the submission attempts here by Kiely.
T trying to control here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Kiely showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Kiely darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Kiely seems to be working for a kimura but T defends the submission attempt.
Kiely with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Kiely is looking to advance position but T won't allow it.
T tries to get to full guard but Kiely has control of the leg.
Kiely wants to take a breather but T is having none of it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

T looking for submissions off his back.
Kiely is trying to control the action in half guard but T is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kiely prevents T from improving his position.
Ned Kiely has got the better of the ground game so far.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kiely moves out of range of the body kick.
T leaves Kiely with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kiely drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Kiely working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kiely thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kiely wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by T, who protects the arm well.
Kiely advances to full mount.
Kiely unloads with some shots from mount but T bucks and avoids them well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
T taking shots to the head.
T is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
T tries to hold on but Kiely pushes him away.
Kiely throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for T because Kiely loaded up on that one.
Kiely seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but T is holding on tight.

Kiely has control of T's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and T regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Kiely avoids the attempt from T to control.
tyler T has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kiely working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kiely wants to control the pace but T is squirming around nicely.

Kiely looking for a guillotine from mount but T is having none of it.
T is desperately trying to improve his position but Kiely has a good base and remains in mount.

Kiely jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… T is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by T and Kiely has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Kiely tries to score with some ground and pound. T controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ned Kiely comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kiely winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
