PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Emhoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glen Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Glen Clark told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Emhoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Glen Clark!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clark fails to land the takedown.

Emhoff shoots in and bounces Clark off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Emhoff landing some decent shots from guard.
Emhoff throwing strikes from guard but Clark blocks nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clark being controlled here, momentarily.
Clark is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Clark keeping moving, preventing Emhoff from controlling successfully.
Clark is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Clark misses with a takedown attempt

and Emhoff counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Clark's guard now.
Emhoff slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Clark wants to stand and escape but Emhoff is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Clark keeping full guard, as Emhoff tries to pass.

Emhoff stands and steps away. Clark gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Clark throws a wild body kick that Emhoff sees coming a mile off.

Emhoff scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Clark sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Emhoff decides to return to a standing position.
Clark misses with a takedown

and Emhoff counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Clark's guard now.
Jack Emhoff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glen Clark.
Emhoff is breathing heavily.

Emhoff is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Emhoff has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Clark is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Emhoff shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Clark's guard.

Clark had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Emhoff is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Clark Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Emhoff's back instead.

and Emhoff counters with a shoot takedown. Clark fights it but they end up in guard.

Emhoff fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Clark sprawls well initially but Emhoff persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Emhoff is taking a breather. Clark says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Emhoff throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Emhoff counters with a single leg into guard. Clark didn't expect that.
Clark is trying to control the position but Emhoff postures up.

Clark is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Clark shoots in for a double leg but Emhoff sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Clark doesn't manage to clinch there - Emhoff circles away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Emhoff bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Emhoff scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Clark to see if he's OK.
Clark sneaks back into half guard.
Emhoff content to control rather than advance.
Emhoff wants to free his trapped foot but Clark is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Clark is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Emhoff's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Emhoff's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Emhoff's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Emhoff checks a leg kick.
Emhoff will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A nice combination there by Clark.

Clark tries for a takedown but Emhoff circles away easily

and Emhoff counters by clinching up.

Clark shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Emhoff is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Clark can do to turn this around?
Emhoff moves into full mount! Clark won't be happy about that!
Emhoff prevents Clark from getting the reversal.

Emhoff can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Clark is looking to escape.
Glen Clark has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
