PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Kerr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and todd labod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kerr might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Smash Your enemies - Hatebreed. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Kerr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, todd labod!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kerr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kerr avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
labod is looking to work some ground and pound but Kerr has wrist control.
labod controlling from the top position.

Kerr scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Matt Kerr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

labod rushes Kerr and presses him up against the cage.
Kerr drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kerr breaks from the clinch.
labod dives in and grabs Kerr's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kerr pushes down on labod's head and hops out.
labod tries to clinch up.
Kerr cracks labod with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


It looks like todd labod has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kerr takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

labod is looking to clinch but Kerr is avoiding it.
labod wants to clinch up but Kerr keeps it at a distance.
Kerr keeps the fight on the outside.

and labod counters with a good, hard body kick but Kerr shrugs it off.
Kerr wants to clinch up but labod keeps it at a distance.
Kerr misses with a series of wild punches.

labod darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
labod should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
labod is looking to take a break and control but Kerr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
labod throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

labod stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
labod showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kerr.
labod is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kerr.
Kerr is breathing heavily.
Nice takedown defense from labod. No joy for Kerr on that attempt.
labod misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Kerr has closed the distance and engaged labod in a clinch.
labod is pressed up against the cage. Kerr has hold of a leg and is looking to drag labod down to the mat. labod avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kerr shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and labod counters with a nice double leg into guard.
labod wants to control from the top but Kerr keeps moving.
labod pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kerr is keeping the position for now.
labod trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Kerr manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

labod is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kerr with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Kerr is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kerr throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as labod works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kerr is looking to stand up but labod won't let him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
labod punching from the bottom - just letting Kerr know he's still in a fight.
labod controls Kerr momentarily but Kerr frees himself.

labod uses the cage to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Matt Kerr will probably get the nod.

Kerr fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. labod sprawls well initially but Kerr persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

labod is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kerr pulls his head out easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kerr is wriggling around but labod manages to pass to half guard.

labod tries to close the distance and clinch but Kerr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

labod drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kerr scrambles and gets back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kerr tries to close the distance and clinch up but labod swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kerr fakes the leg kick and cracks labod in the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

todd labod showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Kerr takes the fight into the clinch.

labod jumps guard and drags Kerr to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Kerr working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Kerr postures up and lands a big shot to labod's brow.

labod looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kerr passes into side control.
Kerr lands a decent elbow from side control.
labod takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Kerr works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Kerr trying to control the action but labod is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
labod stops Kerr from passing to mount.

Kerr looks up at the clock and then as labod takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kerr smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
labod tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kerr wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

labod is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kerr throws a combination. labod tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

and Kerr counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in labod's guard now.

labod is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Kerr has labod pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. labod manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Kerr jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as labod walks away with a smile on his face. Kerr gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Kerr. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and labod counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by labod.
labod wants to control from the top but Kerr keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kerr wants to get back to his feet but labod is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to todd labod.
I think labod has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
