Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Christian Caldwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Monty Brewster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Christian Caldwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Monty Brewster!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brewster throws out a loose jab but Caldwell uses good head movement to avoid it.
Caldwell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brewster pinned against the cage. Brewster gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Brewster misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Brewster connects with the punch.
Caldwell scores with a head kick.
Caldwell staying out of range there.
Brewster lands a nice hook to Caldwell's body. Caldwell takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Caldwell slips a straight right by Brewster.
Brewster scores with a jab.
Brewster looks to throw the jab but Caldwell is out of range.
Caldwell throws a right and a left that Brewster avoids nicely.
Brewster misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Caldwell.
Brewster avoids the head kick by Caldwell.
Brewster tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Caldwell was well out of range. Poor timing from Brewster.
Caldwell throws a half hearted mid kick.
Brewster misses with a few strikes there.
Brewster lands a nice hook to Caldwell's body. Caldwell takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Brewster attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Caldwell looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Brewster!
Brewster can't escape the position.

Caldwell working for a guillotine from mount but Brewster is in no mood to give up.
Caldwell thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Caldwell is looking to work his way around to Brewster's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Poor strikes thrown by Caldwell there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Caldwell has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Brewster's face.

Caldwell looking to control but Brewster is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caldwell throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Brewster because Caldwell loaded up on that one.
Caldwell fails to move to back control.
Caldwell is landing with some decent strikes but Brewster is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Caldwell is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Brewster can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Caldwell jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Brewster is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Brewster and Caldwell has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Caldwell throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brewster was covering up waiting for the punch and Caldwell finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Caldwell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brewster swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Caldwell postures up.
Caldwell tries to free his leg and advance position but Brewster is retaining full guard.
Caldwell wants to control from the top but Brewster keeps moving.

Caldwell has gone for a leg lock! Brewster slips out almost immediately though and dives into Caldwell's guard.
Caldwell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Brewster looking to sit in guard and control but Caldwell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Brewster not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Caldwell trying to control but Brewster is working from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Caldwell looking to sit in guard and control but Brewster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Caldwell manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Caldwell seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Brewster is holding on tight.

Caldwell goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Brewster is on top in guard.

Caldwell is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brewster is aware though and is defending well.

Brewster postures up in Caldwell's guard and throws a big left but Caldwell blocks it.
Brewster trying to control the position from guard on top but Caldwell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Caldwell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Brewster misses with a two punch combination.

Caldwell closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Brewster takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Brewster gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Caldwell works his foot free and advances to mount.
Caldwell looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Caldwell throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Caldwell is looking to work his way around to Brewster's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Brewster is keeping busy.

Caldwell is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Brewster knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Brewster for a finish.

Brewster looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Caldwell thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Brewster manages to scramble and ends up in full guard, under a barage of strikes . Great composure from Brewster.
Caldwell slips nicely into half guard.
Caldwell wants to pass to mount but Brewster is defending the position.
Caldwell is looking to take a break and control but Brewster is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Brewster is trying to maintain the position but Caldwell is very close to passing his half guard.

Caldwell is looking to advance position but Brewster won't allow it.
Caldwell is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Brewster tries to hold on but Caldwell postures up.
Caldwell lands a big shot there that rocks Brewster but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Brewster has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Caldwell has got his arm under Brewster's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Brewster has spun round into Caldwell's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
Monty Brewster has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Caldwell pushes a forearm under Brewster's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Brewster is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
