The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping body kick lands there for Vinyard.

Johnson feints and then cracks Vinyard's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Vinyard down.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Vinyard is keeping the position.
Johnsonis looking to pass into half guard but Vinyard pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Vinyard is in guard.

Vinyard would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Vinyard is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Johnson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Vinyard's back instead.
