Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Vasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gackt Camui! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Camui throws a push kick but Vasquez slaps the foot to one side. Nice takedown defense from Camui. No joy for Vasquez on that attempt. Camui lands a nice leg kick that just misses Vasquez's sensitive parts. Vasquez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Vasquez trying to control the action but Camui is working from the bottom. Vasquez seems to be working for a kimura but Camui defends the submission attempt. Camui looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Vasquez frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Vasquez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Camui is looking to escape. Camui tries to lock up and control but Vasquez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Vasquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vasquez lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Camui looks gassed! Vasquez sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Vasquez prevents Camui from getting the reversal. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Camui has eaten all the pies! Vasquez trying to control but Camui is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Vasquez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Vasquez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Camui slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Vasquez is working for a kimura but Camui is defending it quite comfortably.
Vasquez moves into full mount! Camui won't be happy about that! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vasquez tries to control but Camui wriggling away. Vasquez is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Camui can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vasquez trying to control but he's not successful this time. Camui working to try and regain half guard.
Camui tries to hold on but Vasquez pushes him away. Camui tries to reverse the position but Vasquez maintains control. Vasquez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Camui is looking to escape. Camui can't escape the position.
Vasquez has isolated one of Camui's arms. Camui looking to fight him off but Vasquez twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
