PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between craig whitehead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Stanley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, craig whitehead!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Stanley!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanley throws a head kick that misses.
Stanley ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Stanley fails with the takedown.
whitehead moves in looking to clinch but Stanley pushes him off.
Stanley misses with a series of wild punches.
Stanley swinging wilding here.
Stanley shoots in and drives through. whitehead sprawls well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
whitehead dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Stanley. That did some damage!

It looks like craig whitehead has been cut.

whitehead shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

whitehead tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
whitehead seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stanley for as long as he can get away with.

whitehead works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stanley wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
whitehead will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

whitehead takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

whitehead looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Stanley flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
whitehead is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Stanley is trying to get back to half guard.

Stanley is pushing whitehead's head away, looking to escape. whitehead manages to hold on to the position though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

whitehead throws a series of punches but Stanley moves out of range.

Stanley falls off balance throwing a combination
and whitehead counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Stanley throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and whitehead counters with a nice low kick that buckles Stanley's knee momentarily.

and whitehead counters with a head kick. That will keep Stanley thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

No joy there for whitehead, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

whitehead lands a decent elbow from side control.
whitehead has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Stanley is pushing whitehead's head away, looking to escape. whitehead manages to hold on to the position though.

Stanley is looking to reverse the position.

whitehead has hold of Stanley's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Stanley seems comfortable defending it but whitehead has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Stanley is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Stanley is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but whitehead couldn't care less - he's delighted!
