PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rick Stain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allan Arling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Allan Arling told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rick Stain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Allan Arling!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Arling takes the fight into the clinch.
Arling with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Arling pulls guard effortlessly.
Stain tries to free his leg and advance position but Arling is retaining full guard.
Arling trying to keep a closed guard but Stain is proving a slippery customer.
Stain passes Arling's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Stain is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Arling doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stain.
Arling is trying to stand.
Stain is looking to take a break and control but Arling is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Stain passes to full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stain tries to control but Arling wriggling away.
Arling really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Arling tries to lock up and control but Stain gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Arling is looking to improve his position but Stain isn't that keen on the idea.

Stain working for a guillotine from mount but Arling is in no mood to give up.
Arling has given up his back.
Arling trying to control but not successfully.
Arling rolls, trying to escape but Stain keeps control of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stain avoiding Arling 's attempts to control his hands.
Arling manages to reverse the position and now he's in Stain's guard. Nice work there by Arling.
Stain keeping full guard, as Arling tries to pass.
Stain wants to sweep but no luck.
Stain is breathing heavily.
Stain is adopting a defensive guard.
Arling trying to control the position from guard on top but Stain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Arling shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Arling shoots in but no luck this time.
Arling shoots for a double leg takedown but Stain sprawls well. He's pushed Arling's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rick Stain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Allan Arling.
Stain misses with a takedown attempt

and Arling counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Arling.
Stain lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Arling!
Stain avoids the attempt from Arling to control.

Stain has control of Arling's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Arling regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Arling tries to hold on but Stain postures up.

Stain looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Arling tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Stain fails to take his opponent's back.

Stain looking to secure an arm triangle but Arling defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rick Stain will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Arling misses with a takedown

so Stain counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Arling is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Stain sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Arling's guard.
Arling is looking to improve his position.

Stain seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Arling is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Rick Stain!
