The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kidd keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Kidd throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Peroni.

Kidd keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peroni decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kidd wants to improve his position but Peroni is controlling well.
Peroni thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jax Peroni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Peroni will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Peroni tries to pull guard but Kidd holds him up against the cage and eventually Peroni drops back down to his feet.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Kidd just misses with a elbow thrown towards Peroni's brow.

Kidd lands a hook that snaps the head of Peroni backwards.

Peroni has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kidd uses from the top position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Peroni is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Peroni passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Kidd is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Peroni asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Kidd looks to move to half guard but instead Peroni has passed into mount! Damn!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kidd is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
