PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terry Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reed comes to the cage accompanied by Its the season. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Terry Martin!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martin scores with a takedown into Reed's guard.
Martin trying to control the position from guard on top but Reed is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reed has control of Martin's left arm, preventing Martin from doing any damage.

Reed is working an open guard so Martin takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Reed pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Martin misses with a wild combination.
Reed throws a series of punches but Martin avoids them all with ease.
Reed fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Martin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Reed's half guard.

Martin stands up out of the half guard.

Martin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Reed, pushing him back against the cage.
Reed has had enough of the clinch but Martin keeps him there for the moment.
Reed lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Terry Martin has been cut.
Reed keeps control of Martin as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Martin wants a takedown.
Reed wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Reed breaks the clinch.
A chopping leg kick lands by Reed.
Martin fails with the takedown.
No luck for Martin with that takedown attempt.
Ryan Reed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Terry Martin.
Reed is trying hard to land a takedown here. Martin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Martin is trying to hold Reed in close to prevent damage but Reed has managed to pass into half guard.
Martin wants to get back to full guard.
Reed tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Reed trying to control the action but Martin is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Terry Martin will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Reed tries for a takedown but Martin circles away easily
enabling Martin to counter with a crisp jab.
Martin doesn't manage to clinch there - Reed circles away.

Martin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Martin lands in his opponent's guard.
Martin is looking to stand up but Reed won't let him.
Reed being controlled here, momentarily.
Martin forces his way into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Martin trying to control the action but Reed is working from the bottom.
Martin stalling.
Martin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reed does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Martin is looking for a kimura here.
Martin is looking to stall here but Reed recovers full guard.

Martin wants to stand but Reed is controlling his posture from full guard.
Martin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Reed wriggles free and stands up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Reed closes the distance looking to clinch
and Martin counters with a three punch combo that has Reed backing up. Reed nods at Martin to acknowledge the strikes.
Reed takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A slapping leg kick lands for Reed.
Reed slaps away a takedown attempt from Martin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Reed works the jab nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reed with a hook.
Good leg kick by Reed there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Martin dives in and grabs Reed's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reed pushes down on Martin's head and hops out.
Martin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Reed avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Martin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A cross from Reed lands.

Reed shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Martin is trying to defend but Reed finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Reed punishing his opponent with strikes.
Reed with the ground and pound from mount.
Martin is squirming around, avoiding Reed's attempts to control the action.
Reed breaks from Martin's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Reed scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Martin?

Martin takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Reed looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Martin is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reed can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Martin is looking to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Reed has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Martin's face.

Martin is working to get back to half guard.
Reed takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ryan Reed showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Reed has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
