The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kongo darts in and clinches Cross up against the cage.

Kongo works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Kongo drops back looking for a leg! Cross is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cross manages to kick Kongo off! Kongo jumps back into Cross's guard.
Cross looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Kongo advances position into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kongo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cross is trying to improve his position.
Kongo wants to stand but Cross has his arm trapped.
Kongo tries to move to mount but Cross blocks the move with his legs.

Cross looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kongo!
Kongo is in all sorts of trouble here.
Cross with the ground and pound from mount.

Cross looking to control but Kongo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Cross wants to control the pace but Kongo is squirming around nicely.

Kongo regains half guard.
Cross is thwarting Kongo's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kongo regains full guard. Nicely done.

Kongo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Cross is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kongo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Cross's back instead.

Kongo is persistently looking for the submission but Cross is defending it well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kongo is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Kongo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
