Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kari Tapio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Drago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kari Tapio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ivan Drago!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drago throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Drago takes a swing at Tapio's ribcage but misses.

Tapio throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Drago was covering up waiting for the punch and Tapio finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tapio pushing down on Drago's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Tapio is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Tapio won't let Drago get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Tapio is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Drago is surviving well by controlling Tapio's body position as best he can.

Tapio is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Drago has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Drago!
Drago tries to free his leg and advance position but Tapio is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tapio working for a triangle but Drago defends it easily.
Drago wants to control from the top but Tapio keeps moving.

Drago passes Tapio's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Drago is looking to advance position but Tapio won't allow it.
Tapio is refusing to be controlled, as Drago sits in half guard.
Drago looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Tapio slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Drago drops back looking for a leg! Tapio is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tapio manages to kick Drago off! Drago jumps back into Tapio's guard.

Tapio has his foot on Drago's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Drago works his way back into a safe position though.

Drago slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Drago tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Drago has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Drago sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Tapio is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Tapio is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Drago pulls his head out easily.

Drago is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tapio is just riding it out for now. Drago eventually gives up the hold.

Drago is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Tapio has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Tapio actively working from the bottom here.

Tapio is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Drago pulls his head out easily.

Drago shoots for a takedown but Tapio saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Drago fails to land with a series of punches.
Drago defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tapio.
Drago shoots in but Tapio avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Drago stuffs the takedown.
Tapio shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Drago counters with a left and a right that stings Tapio.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kari Tapio. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Drago fails with the takedown.
Drago looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Drago doesn't manage to clinch there - Tapio circles away.
Nice sprawl there from Drago as Tapio shoots in.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tapio fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Drago shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tapio as he jumps to the side.

Drago tries to clinch up.
Drago swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Tapio throws a nice head kick!
Drago misses with a takedown attempt - Tapio sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Tapio throws a right and a left that both miss.
Drago misses with a series of wild punches.

Tapio closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Drago did well to prevent Tapio getting side control.
Drago is looking to improve his position.
Tapio looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Tapio has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Drago defend it? Tapio steps over the head and cranks it - Drago is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Tapio!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kari Tapio!
