The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

ali throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Luger was covering up waiting for the punch and ali finishes the takedown easily into guard.
ali trying to control the position from guard on top but Luger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

ali drops back, looking for a kneebar! Luger looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Luger looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Luger!
ali gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

ali is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Luger pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Luger tries to stand and escape but ali is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
ali closes this distance looking for a takedown but Luger circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

ali stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Luger swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as ali accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Luger tries to clinch up.
Luger doesn't manage to clinch there - ali circles away.
Luger is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
ali lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Luger circles away quickly and effectively.

ali shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Luger is trying to defend but ali finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
