Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damon King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Evil Clown - Slapshock. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damon King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank James!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Lou da Vinci and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from King. No joy for James on that attempt.

King shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in James's guard.
King advances to half guard.
James tries to roll over but King keeps him under control.

King is looking for a kimura here.
James is looking to control King's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can James avoid being mounted?

James looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

King stands up from half guard.
James finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James fails with the takedown

and King counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King advances to half guard.
King is trying to control the action in half guard but James is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
King throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
King takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
King wants to control but James is keeping him busy.
James is trying to stand back up but King is controlling him
King passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for James!
King tries to control but James wriggling away.

King misses with some ground and pound and James recovers position to half guard.

King is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and James defends it well.
King works his way into side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
King looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
James is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King misses with the ground and pound.

King thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
King throwing shots but missing, from side control.

King is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, James has escaped the position, nice work there.
Sloppy strikes there by King.
James wants to control but King postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

King goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, James has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for King but great work by James.
King is trying to control James's posture but James avoids it.
James is looking to take a break and control but King is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
James passes to full mount! That's big trouble for King!
King is trying to escape the mount.
James lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
James working away from the top, dropping strikes.
James throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
James lands a nice shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damon King dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


A low kick from James misses

and King counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
King trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
James looking for a sweep. Not yet James, not yet.
King trying to control but James is working from the bottom.
James is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
King stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard.
King is working hard here to advance position.
James trying to keep a closed guard but King is proving a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
James tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
James throws a series of punches but King moves out of range.
King gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and James counters with a stiff right hand.
James is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
James tries for a takedown but King circles away easily

and King counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
James is breathing heavily.
James is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
King trying to control but James is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
King working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
King pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. James is keeping the position for now.
King won't allow James to get back to his feet.

King drops back looking for a leg! James is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and James manages to kick King off! King jumps back into James's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

King feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

King scoring with some ground and pound.
King stands and throws James's legs to the side, diving into side control.
King working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
James misses with an elbow from the bottom.

King looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
King connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused James some visible discomfort.
James is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King working the ground and pound.

King is working James over with some ground and pound from side control.
King is trying to ground and pound but James uses the momentary lack of control by King to regain half guard.
King passes the guard and advances to mount!
King can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as James is looking to escape.
King is really struggling to control James but he's trying to hold on to the position.
King wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damon King dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

King is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Check out the look on King's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
King wants to control but James is keeping him busy.
James tries to bench press King off him but King keeps the position.
King throws an elbow but James slips to the side and avoids it well.

King tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no King has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
King wants to lay and pray for a moment but James keeps working.

King is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but James is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
King is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

King is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, James has escaped the position, nice work there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
James takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
King creates some space and throws a big elbow, but James sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

King wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by James, who protects the arm well.

King tries for a kimura but James is defending well.
James is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
James is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked King off and has taken his back!
James is hanging on to King's back as he tries to escape.
Even with his hooks in, James manages to miss with strikes from the back.
King looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
King is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
James thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
James keeps control of the position as King tries to break free.
Damon King is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
James doesn't have the hooks in and King manages to turn into his guard.
King wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
James doesn't succeed with the takedown

and King counters with a shoot takedown. James fights it but they end up in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as King accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
King is pushing down on James's leg trying to pass to half guard. James is fighting to maintain full guard but King has managed to sneak the leg through.
King seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but James does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

King seems to be looking for submissions.
James wants to improve his position but King is controlling well.
Frank James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
James taking some punishment here, with King in his half guard.
King lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

And that's the end of the fight!
Damon King showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for King, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
