The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brian throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Winston throws a sloppy head kick and Brian moves out of range easily.
Winston swings for the body but Brian moves out of range.
Don Winston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brian throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Winston's waist but Winston gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brian off to one side.
Brian fails in his attempt to clinch.

Brian closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Winston can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Winston throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Winston drops Brian with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Brian looks back up at him and smiles so Winston waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

It looks like John Brian has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Brian shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Winston's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Winston can't keep his opponent in guard - Brian advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Brian is trying to control the action in half guard but Winston is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Winston moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Brian tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brian has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
