The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kane keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Johnson's head.
Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Kane isn't so interested in that idea.
Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kane closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Kane has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Johnson tries to bum rush Kane with a series of wild strikes but Kane uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Johnson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kane is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Johnson kicks off Kane and gets to his feet.
Kane shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Kane feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Johnson is trying to control the position but Kane postures up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Johnson throws a solid leg kick but Kane takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Johnson.
Kane shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Johnson defends it nicely.

Kane changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Johnson is pushing Kane's head away, looking to escape. Kane manages to hold on to the position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Kane counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kane.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kane can do anything to dispel that myth.

Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kane circles away quickly and effectively.
Kane looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but Kane persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing.
Johnson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Johnson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Kane shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnson's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Johnson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kane manages to get himself to full guard.
Johnson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Devin Kane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

I've got Kane winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
