Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maxwell Pappin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan Jonathan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maxwell Pappin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stan Jonathan!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pappin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jonathan sprawls well initially but Pappin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jonathan is trying to control but can't.
Pappin controlling the pace.
Pappin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jonathan is looking for a sweep. Pappin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pappin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jonathan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jonathan trying to hold on to Pappin's head to control him but Pappin postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pappin sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Jonathan preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jonathan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pappin is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Jonathan wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maxwell Pappin dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Jonathan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Pappin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Jonathan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Pappin tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jonathan is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pappin asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Jonathan prevents Pappin from improving position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jonathan wants to get back to his feet.

Pappin just content to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Pappin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pappin lands in his opponent's guard.
Jonathan has Pappin pulled in close to control his posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maxwell Pappin dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Pappin circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Pappin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Pappin looks for a takedown but Jonathan sprawls well.
Pappin shoots in for a takedown but Jonathan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maxwell Pappin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jonathan forces Pappin back against the cage and clinches.

Jonathan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pappin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jonathan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jonathan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pappin paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jonathan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jonathan wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Jonathan is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Jonathan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jonathan fails in his attempt to clinch.

Pappin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pappin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jonathan trying desperately to get to his feet.
Maxwell Pappin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pappin controlling from the full mount.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Jonathan tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pappin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jonathan tries to hold on but Pappin pushes him away.
Stan Jonathan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jonathan tries to get back to half guard but can't.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Maxwell Pappin.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pappin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
