The crowd seem to be enjoying Rypien's choice of entrance music: The Ripper. Rick Rypien has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Evgeny Drakul's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drakul gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Drakul is looking to clinch but Rypien is avoiding it.
Rick Rypien seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big left from Rypien misses.
A punch combination from Rypien misses.
Drakul is looking to clinch but Rypien is avoiding it.
Rypien throws a lazy right hand but Drakul sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Rypien lunges at Drakul with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Drakul's hand.
The fighters circling - Drakul throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rypien takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Drakul ducks under a wild hook from Rypien.
Rypien throws a nice looking combination but Drakul bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Drakul feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rypien wants to sweep here but Drakul controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rypien rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Drakul moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Drakul takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rick Rypien is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Drakul moves out of range as Rypien strikes.
Rypien steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Drakul.

Drakul shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Drakul is looking to advance position but Rypien won't allow it.
Drakul frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Drakul is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rypien has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rypien!

Drakul working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rypien doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rypien manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rypien seems keen to control Drakul's posture.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Drakul lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rypien!

Drakul swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
