The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Alexander is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alexander connects with a nice short shot to Silva's temple.
Silva moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Alexander drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Alexander off! Alexander jumps back into Silva's guard.
Silva seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
