Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, santana machida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cut Copy!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
machida tries to close the distance and clinch up but Copy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Copy shoots in and bounces machida off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Copy won't allow machida to get back to his feet.
Copy lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Copy trying to control the position from guard on top but machida is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
machida wants to stand and escape but Copy is having none of it.
machida wriggles free and stands up.
machida is looking to clinch but Copy is avoiding it.
machida fails with an attempt to clinch.
Copy tries to keep at a distance but machida has taken the fight into the clinch.
machida fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
machida tries for a takedown but Copy manages to get underhooks.
machida is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Copy pulls him back up using the underhooks.
machida tries to break free but Copy pushes him back against the cage.
Copy breaks the clinch.
Copy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with machida but machida pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's one minute gone in the round.
machida shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Copy counters with a nice double leg into side control. machida won't be happy with that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for santana machida. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Copy tries to advance to mount but machida denies him.
machida is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Copy is controlling him well.
machida trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
machida is breathing heavily.
Copy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Copy throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
machida pushes Copy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Copy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Copy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. machida knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Copy is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. machida is trying to escape and Copy transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and machida is forced to tap! Nice work there by Copy! Very nice indeed!
