Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hugo de Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as BJ Penn enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hugo de Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, BJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by de Castro or perhaps it was just good defense by Penn which made him look bad.
de Castro looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
de Castro shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Penn sprawls well. Penn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. de Castro gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hugo de Castro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

de Castro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Penn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Penn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Penn is looking to take a break and control but de Castro is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
de Castro manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
de Castro uses his free foot to push down on Penn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Penn.
Penn is squirming around, avoiding de Castro's attempts to control the action.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

BJ Penn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Penn is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Despite being in the dominant position, BJ Penn just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

BJ Penn is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

de Castro swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Penn is now in de Castro's guard. A big mistake from de Castro there, giving up the dominant position!

BJ Penn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Penn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
