Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mik Vik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunnar Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vik comes to the cage accompanied by Who let the dogs out. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vik fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Owens, pushing him back against the cage.
Vik lands with a light punch inside.
Vik is pressed up against the cage. Owens has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Vik down to the mat. Vik avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Owens is looking to clinch but Vik is avoiding it.

Owens closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Owens lands in his opponent's guard.
Owens wants to pass the guard but Vik is keeping the position.

Owens postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Vik is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Owens, into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Owens is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Vik is looking to stand up but Owens won't let him.

Vik tries to free his leg and advance position but Owens is retaining full guard.
Vik is fighting to break Owens's control of his arms but Owens is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Owens is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Vik controlling from mount.
Vik knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Owens on the ground.
Owens is trying to escape the mount.
Owens tries to lock up and control but Vik gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Owens keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vik fails to land with a series of punches.
A combination from Vik does no damage.
Owens shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vik as he jumps to the side.
Vik misses with the combination.

Owens scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Vik prevents Owens from moving into mount.

Owens goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vik has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Owens but great work by Vik.

Vik has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vik throws a head kick but Owens moves out of range.
Owens shoots in and drives through. Vik sprawls well.
Mik Vik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunnar Owens.
Vik cracks Owens with a right hand to the side of the head.

Owens looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Vik!

Owens is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Vik has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Owens stands up from mount. Strange move.
A slapping body kick lands there for Owens.
Owens avoids the body shot from Vik.
Vik lands with a right that hurts Owens. Owens looks to clinch but Vik throws a short knee that drops Owens. This one is all over!
