Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between William Barker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chupa Cobre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Barker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chupa Cobre!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barker pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cobre is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barker sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Barker feints and as Cobre raises his hands in defense, Barker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cobre is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cobre is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Barker has gone for a leg lock! Cobre slips out almost immediately though and dives into Barker's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Barker is on top in guard.
Cobre seems keen to control Barker's posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barker postures up.

Cobre is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Cobre looking to control.

Cobre has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Barker is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cobre.
Cobre dodges the ground and pound from Barker.

Barker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Barker creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cobre sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Cobre tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Barker easily slips into full mount!
Barker throwing strikes but Cobre uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Barker throwing shots but Cobre is blocking nicely.
Barker works his way into side control.
Barker working the ground and pound but Cobre is defending the strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Barker misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cobre is trying to get back to half guard.
Barker scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Cobre to see if he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barker tries to move to mount but Cobre blocks the move with his legs.
Barker throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Cobre gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Barker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cobre is just riding it out for now. Barker eventually gives up the hold.
Barker passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Cobre!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Barker looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Cobre looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Barker dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cobre takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Barker moves into range and connects with a jab.
Barker lands a big head kick that sends Cobre to the canvas! Barker follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). William Barker!
