Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ian Saga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Angle has chosen Indestructable by Disturbed as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Kurt Angle is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kurt Angle!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angle takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Angle drives through with a takedown into guard.

Saga is looking for a triangle but Angle pushes his legs off easily.

Saga working for a triangle but Angle defends it easily.

Saga escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Angle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Angle distracts Saga with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Angle pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Saga is keeping the position for now.

Angle drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Saga dives on top into guard.
Saga really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Saga has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Angle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Angle avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Angle postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Angle wants to control from the top but Saga keeps moving.
Angle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Angle had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Saga is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Angle Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Saga's back instead.

Angle has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Angle doesn't have the hooks in and Saga manages to turn into his guard.
Saga tries to free his leg and advance position but Angle is retaining full guard.

Saga is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Angle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Saga doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Saga manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Saga drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Saga jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Saga drops back looking for a leg! Angle is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Angle manages to kick Saga off! Saga jumps back into Angle's guard.

Saga drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Saga as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Angle screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Saga! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Ian Saga!
