PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Latter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Latter has chosen A New Divide by Linkin Park as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Latter!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Latter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Smith dodges the ground and pound from Latter.
Latter advances nicely into full mount.
Latter wants to control the pace but Smith is squirming around nicely.
Latter unloads with some shots from mount but Smith bucks and avoids them well.
Latter postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Smith looks a forlorn figure.
Latter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Latter is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Smith is surviving well by controlling Latter's body position as best he can.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jason Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Latter.

Latter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Latter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Latter connects with a nice short shot to Smith's temple.

Latter winds up and cracks Smith with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Latter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Latter thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Latter is nestled in close to Smith, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Latter lands a nice short elbow.
