The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jardine shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Xavier napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Xavier stalks Jardine and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jardine's face. Jardine staggers backwards, shaken.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jardine had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Xavier is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jardine Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Xavier's back instead.

Xavier is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Jardine off. It looks like it's working - Jardine slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Xavier displaying calm under pressure there.
