Arts's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Face the Pain. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardigan lands a high kick!

It looks like Marshall Arts has been cut.
Arts scores with a head kick.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Cardigan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Arts tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cardigan avoids it.
Arts scores with a nice hook to the head.
Cardigan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Arts pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Cardigan jumps into guard, dragging Arts to the mat.

Cardigan is working an open guard so Arts takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cardigan shoots in but no luck this time.
Arts checks a leg kick.
Arts throws a head kick that misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Cardigan misses the target.
Cardigan shoots in for a takedown but Arts shows good takedown defense.
Marshall Arts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Orlando Cardigan.

Arts clinches up with Cardigan and pushes him back against the cage.
Arts lands with a right to the head.
Arts lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like Orlando Cardigan has been cut.
Cardigan connects with a nasty looking knee right to Arts's face.
Arts comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Cardigan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Arts smiles and moves away.
Arts throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Cardigan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Arts's guard.

Arts kicks Cardigan off and gets to his feet.

Cardigan forces Arts back against the cage and clinches.
Nice elbow from Arts.

Cardigan pulls Arts into guard.
Arts has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cardigan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Arts is one step ahead there.

Cardigan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Arts doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Cardigan is tightening it up a little... Arts has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Arts reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Arts taps out! nice BJJ there by Cardigan!
