Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Kyoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Kyoto!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kyoto fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Alves feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kyoto looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Kyoto looking for a guillotine here but Alves defends easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kyoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kyoto has control of Alves's left arm, preventing Alves from doing any damage.
Alves loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kyoto wants to get back to his feet but Alves is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Alves postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Alves thows a big elbow that misses.
Alves postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Alves keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kyoto's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alves scoring with some ground and pound.
Kyoto manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Kyoto moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Alves has worked his arm free - good work by Alves!

Kyoto is trying to get an arm triangle but Alves is defending well.
Kyoto looks gassed!
Kyoto wants to take a breather but Alves manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Kyoto.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kyoto looking to sit in guard and control but Alves gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Alves throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kyoto works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kyoto preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Alves lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Alves lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Alves throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Kyoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Alves throws a big right hand that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kyoto working for a triangle but Alves defends it easily.
Alves cracks Kyoto with a solid left hand.
Alves stands up over Kyoto, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Alves trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Alves drops back looking for a leg! Kyoto is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kyoto manages to kick Alves off! Alves jumps back into Kyoto's guard.
Kyoto lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Alves!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kyoto unloads with some shots from mount but Alves bucks and avoids them well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kyoto is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Alves has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Alves!
Kyoto manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Kyoto swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Alves is now in Kyoto's guard. A big mistake from Kyoto there, giving up the dominant position!
Kyoto has control of Alves's left arm, preventing Alves from doing any damage.
Alves postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Thiago Alves will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kyoto with a lazy takedown attempt

so Alves counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Alves postures up in Kyoto's guard and throws a big left but Kyoto blocks it.
Kyoto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alves's guard.

Kyoto drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Alves dives on top into guard.
Alves keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kyoto's head.
Alves loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Alves working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kyoto's head.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kyoto is on top in guard.
Kyoto looking to sit in guard and control but Alves gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Alves scoring with punches to the head and body.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kyoto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alves doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Kyoto is tightening it up a little... Alves has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Alves reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Alves taps out! nice BJJ there by Kyoto!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Felipe Kyoto!
