PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Wilshere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Karlsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karlsen is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Home by BZ's. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Wilshere!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Kim Karlsen!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karlsen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wilshere swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Wilshere scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Karlsen tries to clinch there but Wilshere circles away.

Wilshere decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wilshere trying to mount his opponent but Karlsen defends it.
Wilshere is working hard here to advance position.
Wilshere stops Karlsen from getting back to his feet.

Karlsen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wilshere is working away from the top position though.

Wilshere creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Karlsen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Wilshere goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Karlsen rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Wilshere's guard! Nice work there by Karlsen!

Karlsen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Karlsen tries to free his leg and advance position but Wilshere is retaining full guard.

Wilshere looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Wilshere cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Wilshere goes for an armbar but Karlsen turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Karlsen.
Wilshere bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Karlsen's guard.

Karlsen is looking to stand up but Wilshere isn't so interested in that idea.
Wilshere in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Wilshere looking to sit in guard and control but Karlsen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Wilshere is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Karlsen drops back looking for a leg! Wilshere is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wilshere manages to kick Karlsen off! Karlsen jumps back into Wilshere's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Wilshere decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Karlsen's guard.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Wilshere wants to control the position but Karlsen frees himself and scrambles - Wilshere manages to regain control in side control.
