Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roman Kalashnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Tarabrin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roman Kalashnikov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roman Kalashnikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Tarabrin!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tarabrin throws a sloppy head kick and Kalashnikov moves out of range easily.
Tarabrin fails to land with a series of punches.
Alexander Tarabrin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slow jab from Tarabrin misses its intended target.

Kalashnikov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tarabrin staying busy and making it hard for Kalashnikov to control.

Tarabrin looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Kalashnikov is looking to control Tarabrin but Tarabrin is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Tarabrin is trying to shake Kalashnikov off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Kalashnikov won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tarabrin wants to clinch.
Kalashnikov avoids the head kick by Tarabrin.

Kalashnikov gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tarabrin to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Tarabrin lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Kalashnikov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Tarabrin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kalashnikov wants to get back to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tarabrin drops an elbow to the side of Kalashnikov's head.

Tarabrin working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Tarabrin stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Kalashnikov shoots in but Tarabrin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tarabrin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kalashnikov has a closed guard, preventing Tarabrin from standing up.

Tarabrin wants to get up but he can't break Kalashnikov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kalashnikov shoots in for a takedown but Tarabrin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Tarabrin pushes Kalashnikov off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Tarabrin rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kalashnikov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Tarabrin throws a push kick but Kalashnikov slaps the foot to one side.

Kalashnikov slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Well Tarabrin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
