PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Drake Aubrey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aubrey comes to the cage accompanied by Over - Drake. Dave Lee will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drake Aubrey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Lee!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aubrey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lee swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A jab from Lee finds it's way through Aubrey's defenses.
The fighters circling - Aubrey throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Lee keeps the fight on the outside.
The fighters circle momentarily. Aubrey darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Lee ducks under a wild hook from Aubrey.
Aubrey tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Lee is able to avoid easily.
Lee works over Aubrey's head and body with a nice combination.
Lee lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lee.

Lee is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Aubrey knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Lee swings around for an armbar but Aubrey sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lee's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Aubrey is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Despite being in the dominant position, Dave Lee just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lee uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Aubrey.
Lee throws a jab but it's blocked by Aubrey.
Lee misses with a hook. Aubrey ducked under it nicely.

Lee keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Aubrey thows a body shot but no joy.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Aubrey misses with a wild body shot.
Aubrey throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lee circles away from the clinch attempt.
A clash of legs there as Lee blocks the low kick.
Aubrey moves in looking to clinch but Lee pushes him off.
Aubrey thumps Lee with a low kick.
Aubrey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lee paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Aubrey throws a body punch but Lee moves out of range.
Aubrey throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Aubrey is looking to wear down Lee with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Aubrey throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Aubrey looks to score with a jab to the body but Lee is just out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drake Aubrey dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Lee throws the left hand but Aubrey avoids the punch easily.

Aubrey throws a combination that misses
and Lee counters with a stiff right hand.
Aubrey wants to clinch but Lee slips to the side
and Aubrey takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Lee checks a low kick from Aubrey.
Good work by Lee as he checks the leg kick.
Lee is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Lee counters with a stiff right hand.
Lee throws a series of punches but Aubrey moves out of range.

Aubrey swings away with a body shot that misses
and Lee finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Aubrey throws a leg kick that is checked
and Lee counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Lee throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Lee throws a head kick that misses.

Lee shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lee is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Aubrey is just riding it out for now. Lee eventually gives up the hold.

Lee is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Aubrey is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lee's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lee's back!
Lee just trying to survive but Aubrey is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Lee is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Lee is looking to control Aubrey's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lee avoid being mounted?

Lee is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Lee keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Lee preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Lee wants to control but Aubrey is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Aubrey takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lee makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lee.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Lee misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

and Lee cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lee shoots in but no luck this time.

Aubrey has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Lee finds it's way round the side to connect with Aubrey's head.
Drake Aubrey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aubrey darts in trying to clinch
and Lee cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lee might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

and Lee connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

letting Lee counter with a right hand.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Lee counters with a big head kick but Aubrey shrugs it off.

Aubrey is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Lee's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Aubrey connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

and Lee counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Lee slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Lee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Lee tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lee has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Aubrey wants to control but Lee postures up.
Aubrey is not content to let Lee control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dave Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lee has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
