Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peter Griffen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffen's entrance music is Ride the Lightning. A fine choice. Dan Pierre has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre slaps away a takedown attempt from Griffen, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Pierre has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Griffen uses from the top position.

Donk. Pierre catches Griffen right on the button with a cross.

Pierre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Griffen.
Griffen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pierre's waist but Pierre gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Griffen off to one side.

Dan Pierre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pierre wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Pierre lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Pierre, as that shot connected.
Pierre uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Griffen has time to react.

Griffen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pierre.

Dan Pierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Pierre shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Griffen manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pierre can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well Pierre has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
