Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Akihiro Ono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Ryusendo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ono comes to the cage accompanied by TNT. Akihiro Ono looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ryusendo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ono's guard.

Ryusendo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ono is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ryusendo, into his guard.

Ono decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Ryusendo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ono with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ono lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

so Ryusendo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ono keeping moving, preventing Ryusendo from controlling successfully.
Ryusendo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ono swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ryusendo takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Ryusendo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ono.

A nice inside leg kick there by Ono. That's going to slow Ryusendo down.

Ryusendo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ryusendo lands in his opponent's guard.

Ryusendo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ono manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ryusendo has Ono in his guard.

Ono knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ryusendo on the ground.

Ono can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ryusendo is looking to escape.
Ryusendo's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Akihiro Ono.
