The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

It looks like Alistair Overeem has been cut.
Overeem feints and then cracks Simmons's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Simmons down.
Overeem shoots for a double leg takedown but Simmons sprawls well. He's pushed Overeem's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Good standup being displayed there by Simmons as he connects with a hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Overeem shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Simmons as he avoids it easily.
Overeem dodges the punch combination from Simmons.
Overeem has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Overeem there as he acknowledges the shot.
Overeem needs to keep his hands up - Simmons had a free shot at his head there.

Overeem is rocked!
Simmons misses with a double jab.
Simmons lands with a straight right. Overeem didn't see that one coming.
Overeem is still on wobbly legs! Can Simmons finish him?

That has opened up Alistair Overeem's cut even more.
Simmons drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Overeem right on the button. Overeem goes down! Simmons follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Simmons gets the win via TKO!
