The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Devito rushes Smith and presses him up against the cage.
Smith drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Devito shoots in but Smith avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Smith looks to land a combination but Devito avoids it well.
Devito connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Smith's hands.

Devito shoots in but no luck this time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith is pushing Devito's head away, looking to escape. Devito manages to hold on to the position though.
Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Devito on the ground.

Devito wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working.

Devito throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Devito off to one side.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well Devito has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
