PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Doorman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benito Camelas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doorman is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The key to victory for Michael Doorman has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Doorman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Benito Camelas!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Camelas missing with a left hand there. Doorman was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!

Camelas has closed the distance and engaged Doorman in a clinch.
Camelas tries for a takedown. No joy.

Camelas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Doorman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Camelas lands a nice leg kick that just misses Doorman's sensitive parts.

Camelas pushes Doorman up against the cage in a clinch.

Camelas lands a takedown into guard.
Camelas tries to stand but Doorman is controlling from the bottom.
Camelas cracks Doorman with a solid left hand.
Doorman is looking to stand up but Camelas isn't so interested in that idea.
Doorman throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Doorman wants to get back to his feet but Camelas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Doorman tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Camelas is looking to clinch but Doorman is avoiding it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Camelas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Doorman misses with a low kick.
Doorman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Camelas is fending him off so far but Doorman persists. Nope, Camelas circles away and we're back to standing.

Camelas gets a clinch.

Camelas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Doorman doesn't manage to clinch there - Camelas circles away.
Doorman tries to clinch but Camelas is having none of it.
Camelas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Doorman shoots in for a takedown but Camelas shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Doorman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Doorman uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Camelas.

Camelas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Camelas takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Camelas is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Doorman looks like he's trying to stand up.
Camelas trying to control the action but Doorman is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Camelas tries to clinch there but Doorman circles away.
Benito Camelas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Camelas gets a clinch.

Camelas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Camelas dives in and grabs Doorman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Doorman pushes down on Camelas's head and hops out.

Doorman clinches with his opponent.
Doorman jumps guard but Camelas stands there with Doorman around his waist. Doorman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Camelas successfully pulls guard.
Camelas is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Camelas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Camelas wants to sweep but no luck.

Doorman would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Camelas looking to control.
Camelas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Doorman is one step ahead there.
Camelas is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Doorman is controlling him.

Camelas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Camelas rushes Doorman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Doorman is looking to control Camelas's arms but Camelas gets an underhook and turns him. Now Doorman has his back to the cage.

Camelas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Camelas swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Camelas misses with a few strikes there.
Camelas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Doorman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Camelas napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Doorman decides to take the fight back to the feet.
No luck for Doorman with that takedown attempt.

Camelas shoots in and bounces Doorman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Camelas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Doorman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Camelas has managed to get both his arms back between Doorman's legs - danger averted.

Benito Camelas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Doorman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Doorman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Camelas fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Camelas looks to score with a jab to the body but Doorman is just out of range.
Doorman tries to close the distance and clinch but Camelas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Doorman gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Camelas decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Doorman, up you get!
Camelas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Doorman is fending him off so far but Camelas persists. Nope, Doorman circles away and we're back to standing.

Camelas gets a clinch.

Camelas gets control of Doorman's arms and successfully pulls guard. Camelas will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Camelas kicks Doorman off and gets to his feet.
Camelas throws a lazy right hand but Doorman sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Doorman moves in looking to clinch but Camelas pushes him off.
Camelas tries to close the distance and clinch up but Doorman swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Camelas.
Doorman's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Doorman duly obliges.
Doorman stuffs the takedown.
Doorman throws a sloppy head kick and Camelas moves out of range easily.
Michael Doorman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Doorman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Camelas.
Michael Doorman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benito Camelas.
Doorman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Camelas tries to avoid it but Doorman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Camelas to the ground. Camelas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Camelas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Camelas tries to clinch but Doorman is having none of it.

Camelas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Doorman, pushing him back against the cage.

Camelas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Doorman walks away with a smile on his face. Camelas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Camelas counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Camelas.

Camelas shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Benito Camelas has got the better of the ground game so far.
Doorman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Camelas is working away from the top position though.
Camelas controlling the action here.

Camelas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Doorman keeps working.
Doorman slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Doorman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Camelas stands up from Doorman's guard - Camelas perhaps looking for a knockout.
Doorman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Camelas as he jumps to the side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Camelas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Doorman to the mat! Doorman manages to get full guard.
Camelas works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Camelas slows the pace down in half guard.
Camelas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Doorman keeps working.

And that's the end of the fight!
Benito Camelas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Camelas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
