PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between KO Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Hook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hook has chosen The Way I Am as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Hook!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hook throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hook fails to land with a series of punches.
Kane tries to clinch but Hook is having none of it.
Kane throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Hook counters with a series of strikes. Kane will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hook swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hook tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kane paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A head kick misses from Hook.
Hook shoots for a double leg takedown but Kane sprawls well. He's pushed Hook's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hook throws a one two combo.

Hook tries to keep at a distance but Kane has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hook has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kane tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Kane throws an elbow but it misses.

Hook stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Kane's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kane rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hook moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Tony Hook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Hook counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hook loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hook throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kane works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kane has momentary wrist control but Hook slips an elbow through the middle.
Kane wants to stand and escape but Hook is having none of it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Hook in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kane is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kane throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Hook connects with a couple of short punches.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hook accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hook decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kane, up you get!
Hook lands with a hook. Kane tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Hook shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hook was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kane is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kane is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Hook cracks Kane with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Kane could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hook scoring with strikes but Kane is staying in there.
Kane wants to control but Hook is having none of it.

The referee warns Kane that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hook closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kane to the mat! Kane manages to get full guard.
Hook won't allow Kane to get back to his feet.
Kane trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Hook postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Kane will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Kane wants to get back to his feet but Hook is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Kane is pushing Hook's head away, looking to escape. Hook manages to hold on to the position though.

Kane tries to pull guard but Hook holds him up against the cage and eventually Kane drops back down to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hook drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kane pulls his leg out and moves away.
Hook fails with the takedown.
KO Kane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Hook.
Kane throws a nice looking combination but Hook bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hook throws a right hand that Kane ducks under and follows up with a left that Kane also avoids with ease.

and Kane counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that KO Kane will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Hook scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hook moves into range and clinches up with Kane.
Kane lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kane creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Hook wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Hook drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Kane utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kane has momentary wrist control but Hook slips an elbow through the middle.
Hook with a flurry of punches that miss.
Kane wants to get back to his feet but Hook is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kane knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hook on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hook throws a one two combo.
Hook misses with a double jab.
Hook throws a series of punches but Kane moves out of range.
Kane scores with a three punch combo!
Kane shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for KO Kane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Tony Hook comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hook has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
