Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Spike Spiegel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joe Mcpaene!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spiegel thuds his right hand into Mcpaene's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.


It looks like Joe Mcpaene has been cut.
Spiegel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mcpaene.

Mcpaene shoots in and bounces Spiegel off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

so Mcpaene counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Spiegel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mcpaene is fending him off so far but Spiegel persists. Nope, Mcpaene circles away and we're back to standing.

Spiegel has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mcpaene clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Spiegel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mcpaene on the ground.

Spiegel feints and then cracks Mcpaene's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mcpaene down.
Spike Spiegel is winning the standup battle so far.
Mcpaene shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Spiegel sprawls well. Spiegel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mcpaene gets slowly back to his feet.
Spiegel is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Spiegel lands with a kick to the temple. Mcpaene shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
