PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Orlando Sackett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maynard's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Roy Jones - Can't Be Stopped. Sackett has chosen Mary Jane by Rick James as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Max Maynard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orlando Sackett!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maynard misses with a two punch combination.

Maynard shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Sackett is trying to escape the mount.
Sackett is squirming around, avoiding Maynard's attempts to control the action.
Sackett wants to hold on but Maynard pushes him away.
Sackett tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Sackett defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Maynard.
Maynard is trying to take his opponent's back.

Maynard goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sackett turns into him and now he's in Maynard's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sackett sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Maynard's guard.
Maynard is pressing down on Sackett's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Sackett slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Sackett looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Maynard is avoiding damage well.
Sackett lands some shots froms side control.
Maynard wants to control but Sackett postures up.
Sackett misses with the ground and pound.

Sackett trying to control the action but Maynard is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Maynard's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Maynard is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Maynard is not content to let Sackett control the position.
Maynard manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sackett thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Maynard is staying active underneath Sackett, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Maynard regains full guard. Nicely done.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Maynard is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sackett manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sackett cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Maynard is looking to improve his position but Sackett isn't that keen on the idea.
Sackett is landing with some decent strikes but Maynard is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Maynard tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sackett lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Maynard hang on?
Sackett lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Maynard is desperately trying to improve his position but Sackett has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Orlando Sackett dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Maynard lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sackett digs a good body shot into Maynard's ribs.
Sackett takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Maynard wants to clinch up but Sackett keeps it at a distance.
Sackett misses with a combination
and Maynard counters with a leg kick.
Maynard tries to clinch there but Sackett circles away.
Maynard takes one to the side of the head.
Sackett lands a hook that stumbles Maynard back into the cage. Sackett follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Maynard to the canvas! Sackett pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Maynard has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Orlando Sackett!
