The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dibs tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Darwin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dibs misses with a few strikes there.
Dibs fails in his attempt to clinch.
No joy there for Dibs, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Darwin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dibs throws a combination that misses

and Darwin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Dibs's guard now.
Darwin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Dibs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Darwin on the ground.

Dibs is trying to stand up here but Darwin is controlling him well.
Darwin thows a huge punch but Dibs dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dibs is refusing to be controlled, as Darwin sits in half guard.

Darwin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dibs doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Darwin.
Darwin works his way into side control.
Darwin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Dibs to see if he's OK.
Dibs is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Darwin has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Darwin tries to advance to mount but Dibs denies him.

Darwin is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Dibs's shoulder. That is not cool.

Dibs is breathing heavily.

Dibs is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Darwin gets his way!
Darwin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Darwin really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Dibs.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Darwin connects with a nice short shot to Dibs's temple.
Darwin has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Dibs's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Dibs tries to buck Darwin off but he can't manage it.
Charles Darwin has got the better of the ground game so far.
