Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Laupias Jononoinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Filipe Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jononoinen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jononoinen misses with a few strikes there.
Mendes misses with a head kick.
Jononoinen throws a right and a left that Mendes avoids nicely.
Jononoinen tries to bum rush Mendes with a series of wild strikes but Mendes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jononoinen misses with the combination.
Mendes fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jononoinen.
Horrible takedown by Mendes or perhaps it was just good defense by Jononoinen which made him look bad.

Jononoinen decides to stand back up. Jononoinen steps back and let's Mendes get back to his feet.

Mendes is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jononoinen is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mendes to the mat. Mendes regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jononoinen looks to move to half guard but instead Mendes has passed into mount! Damn!
Mendes connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Jononoinen takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Jononoinen tries to free his leg and advance position but Mendes is retaining full guard.
Jononoinen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendes on the ground.

Jononoinen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mendes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jononoinen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mendes swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mendes had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jononoinen is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mendes Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jononoinen's back instead.
Mendes has Jononoinen flattened out and is raining down punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Laupias Jononoinen will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Mendes counters with a thumping low kick.
Laupias Jononoinen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mendes has closed the distance and engaged Jononoinen in a clinch.
Jononoinen is pressed up against the cage. Mendes has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jononoinen down to the mat. Jononoinen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Jononoinen connects with a nice cross there... Mendes is looking wobbly and Jononoinen recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Mendes to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Jononoinen jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
