Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fernando Nurmi!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nurmi.
Nurmi moves out of range of the strikes.
Aho looks to land a left hand but Nurmi moved out of range nicely.
Aho tries to bum rush Nurmi with a series of wild strikes but Nurmi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Aho lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.


It looks like Fernando Nurmi has been cut.
Nurmi moves out of range as Aho strikes.

Nurmi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Nurmi not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Aho wants to get back to his feet.

Nurmi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Aho is just riding it out for now. Nurmi eventually gives up the hold.

Nurmi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Aho defends it well.

Nurmi creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Aho's defenses.
Nurmi tries to stall but Aho uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Nurmi keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Aho's efforts to push away.

Martti Aho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fernando Nurmi.

Aho slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Aho scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Nurmi tries to clinch but Aho is having none of it.
Aho misses the shot to the body.

That has opened up Fernando Nurmi's cut even more.
Aho throws a big shot that misses.
Aho scores with a decent looking hook.
Nurmi slips a straight right by Aho.
Nurmi avoids the body shot from Aho.
Nurmi avoids a punch combination nicely.
Aho dips to his left and cracks Nurmi with an uppercut!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Aho clinches up against the cage.
Nurmi prevents Aho from breaking the clinch.
Nurmi throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Martti Aho dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Nurmi ducks under a wild hook from Aho.
Nurmi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Aho defends it nicely.
Nurmi takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Aho throws an overhand right that has Nurmi reeling! Aho follows up with more punches and Nurmi is out cold! This one is all over!
