Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sho Kazuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Child (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sho Kazuki has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sho Kazuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Child!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Child moves out of range of the strikes.
Kazuki ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Child moves away.
Kazuki throws a hook but Child avoids it easily.
Kazuki misses with a few strikes there.
Child staying out of range there.
Some wild striking there from Kazuki.
Sho Kazuki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Child looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Child is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Child wants to pass the guard but Kazuki is keeping the position.
Child throwing strikes from guard but Kazuki blocks nicely.

Child thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kazuki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Child is one step ahead there.

Kazuki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Child gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Child wants to control from the top but Kazuki keeps moving.

Kazuki had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Child is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kazuki Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Child's back instead.
Kazuki is breathing heavily.
Child trying to control the hands but Kazuki won't let him.
Child trying to survive by controlling the hands.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Child rolls, trying to escape but Kazuki keeps control of the position.
Child manages to reverse the position and now he's in Kazuki's guard. Nice work there by Child.

Child drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kazuki looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kazuki looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kazuki!

Kazuki tries for a kimura but Child is defending well.
Child gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Kazuki is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Kazuki decides to stand back up. Kazuki steps back and let's Child get back to his feet.
Kazuki tests Child's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Kazuki lands with a nice combination. Child backs away looking to recover.
Kazuki throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Child misses with a straight left.
Sho Kazuki is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kazuki lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Kazuki just misses with a punch to the body.
Kazuki throws a big shot that misses.
Kazuki misses with the combination.
Kazuki misses with a straight right.
Kazuki misses the jab.

Child drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Child avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sho Kazuki dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Child lands a nice shot that snaps Kazuki's head back.
Kazuki moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Child tries for a takedown but Kazuki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Child misses with a jab, cross combination.
Child drops his hands momentarily and Kazuki takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Kazuki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Child moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Child gets a takedown into half guard.
Kazuki tries to get to full guard but Child has control of the leg.

Kazuki has one foot on Child's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Child tries to close the distance and clinch but Kazuki swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Kazuki throws a series of punches but Child avoids them all with ease.

Child shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kazuki manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Child got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kazuki has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Child has managed to get both his arms back between Kazuki's legs - danger averted.

Child stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kazuki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kazuki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Child can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kazuki is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Child defends well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Child is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kazuki has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kazuki!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kazuki fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kazuki swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Child closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kazuki did well to prevent Child getting side control.

Child wants to stand up but Kazuki has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Child wants to control but Kazuki is keeping him busy.
Kazuki is trying to get back to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mike Child has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Child shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kazuki as he avoids it easily.
Sho Kazuki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Child.

I would just about give that final round to Mike Child.
