PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Big D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). D's entrance music is Nine Inch Nails - The Great Destroyer. A fine choice. Banner is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Animal I've Become. Bruce Banner will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner connects with a looping right hand.
D fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
D walks into a stiff left hand from Banner.
Banner jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
D has a takedown stuffed.
Big D seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

D shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. D showed some decent athleticism there.
D is trying to control the action in half guard but Banner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
D prevents Banner from standing back up.
D throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
D is looking to advance position but Banner won't allow it.
Banner pushes D off looking to stand but D dives back in and keeps control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
D shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Banner but Banner pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Big D. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Banner moves into range and connects with a jab.

D shoots in but no luck this time.
Banner uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
D tries for a takedown but Banner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Bruce Banner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Banner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
D has a takedown stuffed.
Banner swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by D.

Banner is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Banner slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Banner fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches D on the side of the head.
D shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Banner is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Banner lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Banner clobbers D with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nice uppercut lands for Banner. That snapped D's head back.
Banner lands with a shot to the body.
D takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A decent looking cross lands there for Banner.
Banner moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
D has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Banner finds it's way round the side to connect with D's head.

Banner has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Banner comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Banner cracks D with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

A decent looking cross lands there for Banner.
D takes one to the side of the head.

Banner jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Banner is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round!D had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Banner comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
D on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Banner throws a combination. D tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Banner connects with a right hand. D shakes it off.
Banner lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Banner stuns D with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
D looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

D has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from D there as he acknowledges the shot.

Donk. Banner catches D right on the button with a cross.
Banner thuds his right hand into D's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
D walks into a stiff left hand from Banner.

Banner connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed D momentarily.

Oh D is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
D takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Banner might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
The crowd cheers as Banner lands an impressive looking overhand right. D doesn't seem phased though.

D doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Banner is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! D hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
