PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jag Smits (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Swizz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smits comes to the cage accompanied by Kanye West - Amazing. Swizz has chosen Make It Go as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jag Smits!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jay Swizz!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smits fails with the takedown.
Smits circles away from the clinch attempt.
Swizz slaps away a takedown attempt from Smits, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jab by Smits.
Swizz fails to land the takedown.
Swizz wants to clinch.
Swizz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smits tries to avoid it but Swizz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smits to the ground. Smits escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Smits looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Smits looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Swizz is trying to stand back up but Smits is controlling him

Smits wants to lay and pray for a moment but Swizz keeps working.
Swizz tries to kick Smits off but Smits keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Smits in particular looking to stall.

Swizz kicks off Smits and gets to his feet.
Swizz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smits swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jag Smits seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swizz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Swizz tries to clinch but Smits is having none of it.

and Smits counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Swizz's guard now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Smits counters with a one-two to the body.

Smits missing with a left hand there. Swizz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Smits moves in looking to clinch but Swizz pushes him off.

and Smits counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Smits.

Swizz wants to get back to his feet but Smits is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Smits is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Smits trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Smits postures up in Swizz's guard and throws a big left but Swizz blocks it.
Swizz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smits is controlling him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smits trying to control the position from guard on top but Swizz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

That's time! Smits's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Smits throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Swizz clinches.
Swizz gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Smits.
Good body shot from Smits.
Swizz connects with a knee to the head.

Smits is trying to trip Swizz. He has hold of a leg but Swizz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Smits persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Smits trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Swizz wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Smits manages to pass to side control.
Smits prevents Swizz from standing back up.

Smits looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Swizz is looking to escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown by Smits or perhaps it was just good defense by Swizz which made him look bad.
Swizz tries to clinch up
and Smits counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Smits connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Jag Smits is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Swizz tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Smits counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Swizz's guard now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Swizz has his feet on Smits's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Swizz slips a jab and a cross from Smits.
Smits leaves Swizz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Smits throws a leg kick but Swizz moved away.

and Smits counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Swizz keeping moving, preventing Smits from controlling successfully.

Smits is looking to work some ground and pound but Swizz has wrist control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Smits scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Swizz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smits sprawls well initially but Swizz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smits perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Smits stops Swizz from getting back to his feet.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Smits in particular looking to stall.
Swizz looks like he's trying to stand up.
Smits is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smits, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
