Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret Hicken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neyne Kathorsie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bret Hicken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Neyne Kathorsie!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kathorsie stuffs the takedown attempt from Hicken. Hicken gets slowly back to his feet.

Hicken fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kathorsie, pushing him back against the cage.
Kathorsie is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Hicken manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Kathorsie gets to his feet - Hicken follows without any prompting.
A right-left combo lands from Kathorsie.
Kathorsie throws a right and a left that both miss.

Kathorsie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kathorsie stands and throws Hicken's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Hicken is trying to control Kathorsie's posture but Kathorsie avoids it.
Kathorsie takes a little break here. Hicken wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kathorsie is staying active underneath Hicken, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kathorsie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hicken seems to be working for a kimura but Kathorsie defends the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hicken throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kathorsie.

and Hicken counters with a nice kick to the body.

Kathorsie closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hicken did well to prevent Kathorsie getting side control.

Kathorsie has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hicken is proving hard to escape from.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kathorsie won't allow Hicken to sweep him here.
Kathorsie slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kathorsie tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hicken swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Kathorsie shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Hicken is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hicken is trying to stand back up but Kathorsie is controlling him
Hicken is pressing down on Kathorsie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kathorsie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hicken swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kathorsie tries to free his leg and advance position but Hicken is retaining full guard.

Hicken doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kathorsie clinches but Hicken breaks the clinch

and Hicken counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Kathorsie is looking to control Hicken's arms but Hicken gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kathorsie has his back to the cage.

Kathorsie manages to pull guard.

Neyne Kathorsie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hicken drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kathorsie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hicken has Kathorsie in his guard.

Kathorsie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hicken is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kathorsie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hicken. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

I would just about give that final round to Neyne Kathorsie.
